Don’t start making wedding plans just yet.

Once I was told word for word, “You’re seriously amazing, you’re wife material! But I can’t do this.” I wasn’t sure if that was a compliment or not, because if I was apparently so great, then why wouldn’t he want to stay with me?

How do we know when something is actually on the level?  The truth is that just because you’ve got a toothbrush at his house doesn’t mean you’ve got the key to his heart.

Here’s our list of things that you might take as positive signs that your relationship is progressing, but, in reality, it’s going nowhere:

1. He lets you wear his shirts.

We all feel sexy and add meaning to wearing his shirt, but it’s just a shirt. It’s not a key to his apartment or a ring, but a shirt. That simple.

2. He takes you out to dinner.

He has to eat. So he can shell out some bucks for a decent dinner. Doesn’t mean he’s not buying dinner for other girls too.

3. He holds your hand.

This in itself doesn’t mean much. Any guy worth his salt knows that women love this.

4. He texts you first.

“Hey” or “what up” doesn’t count.

5. He snuggles with you.

Please, who doesn’t like to snuggle?

6. You have clothes at his place.

Don’t kid yourself. He knows what you are doing. Easier for him to throw your things in the back of the closet than to make a big deal out of it.

7. He calls you ‘babe.’

This way he doesn’t make a mistake by calling you by the wrong name.

8. You’ve met a few of his friends.

So you’ve met a few of his frat brothers and their girlfriends. Woop-de-doo. It’s been eight months, and you still haven’t met his parents.

9. He lets you take care of his dog.
